Gamblin Artists Oils use a binder of alkali-refined linseed oil. This binder results in a strong, flexible paint film, which does not yellow as much as cold pressed linseed oil. Made with the finest refined linseed oils, each color retains the unique characteristics of the high quality pigments, including tinting strength, undertone, and texture.

Alizarin Crimson: Cool, slightly bluish red with smoky glaze. 19th century “lake” color made by the fusing a dye on to a substrate. Only Alizarin Crimson is still commonly used by painters today.
